Hemingway put it, “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.” While I do not believe that people are “broken,” this quote holds special meaning for me in my practice because of the emphasis on the growth that people can acquire after enduring life struggles and working through experiences (even if it does not feel like this in the moment). I am here to work with you through challenging times to find that place of healing and growth. My approach is to foster a strong relationship built upon a foundation of trust, openness, support, honesty, non-judgment, and on occasion – humor. Working in collaboration with you, I use a strength-based and recovery-oriented approach, coupled with evidence-based interventions to help you develop deeper meaning, increase social connectedness, strengthen coping skills, and help empower you to achieve your therapeutic goals. You are the expert on your life and I will be next to you providing support with my clinical skills along the way.

Specialty Areas

As a generalist, I have worked in many different settings helping individuals overcome a variety of issues. In addition to providing peace coaching to help cultivate inner and outer peace, I have also had the opportunity to specialize in a few areas in order to acutely address specific concerns.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
Trauma
Grief and Loss
Relationship Issues
Stress Management
Substance Abuse
Depression
Anxiety

Throughout the years I have been able to provide various types of empirically supported treatment, beneficial for growth and healing, such as with cognitive processing therapy (CPT); motivational enhancement; seeking safety; acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT); cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT); integrative behavioral couple therapy (IBCT); interpersonal processing therapy (IPT); emotionally focused therapy (EFT); and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). As a result of my training and experiences, I am able to offer a wide breadth and depth of services catered to meet your unique needs.

Individual therapy is available for adults. Services can also be tailored to meet the needs of helping professionals, caregivers, and veterans.

Helping Professionals and Caregivers

Services are available to meet the needs of individuals who serve others.  Whether you help others personally (e.g., taking care of an ailing parent) and/or professionally (e.g., as a counselor, nurse, fire fighter, first responder, etc.), it may not always be easy to prioritize your needs. However, self-care and reaching out for support, when needed, is essential for your well-being, especially because “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” Services and an uninterrupted and safe space provide an opportunity to focus on you and your presenting concerns to ultimately process your experience, work towards your personal goals, and find ways to “refuel and recharge” despite stressors.

Veterans

Veterans from all eras, whether deployed or not, are welcome to come in for services. Discharge and adjusting to civilian life after military service (even if it has been years since discharge) is not an easy process. I am here to help veterans with issues pertaining to readjustment after the military, as well as other issues that may have been present before, during, or after active duty

I look forward to working with you as we embark on this journey together.
